I have definitive proof that heaven is a place on earth and it’s filled with yoga mats and puppies. Best of all, you don’t even have to die to get to heaven. Do what I did – pay £35 to Pets Yoga and do yoga with five Toy Cockapoo puppies.
My husband and I have been yearning for a dog for many years, but we rent an apartment and we’re not allowed to have a dog. I get emotional when I see a fully grown Golden Retriever – not even the puppies, the adult dog – so you can just imagine how incredibly happy I was to finally get the chance to spend an hour with puppies. Oh, and to do a bit of yoga.
Format of the class
Everyone had to be a the venue, Shoreditch Tree House (it’s not really a tree house, it just looks like one) 15 minutes before the start of class. The puppies arrived about 5 minutes later. In total we could spend 20 minutes cuddling and playing before yoga began. After 20 minutes of yoga we had a 10 minute puppy break, followed by another 20 minutes of yoga and then the final 10 minutes of puppy loving.
I don’t think the yoga really mattered that much to any of the 18 people in the class. Who cares about doing Downward Dog or Three Legged Dog if you can cuddle a puppy?!
For some reason every puppy that came to me wanted to chew my hand. Maybe it’s the yellow nail varnish?
The yoga
Our instructor was Sasha Morgan, who lead us in Vinyasa. I enjoyed her yoga teaching style and would attend one of her classes any day even without puppies around. She knew that most of us were there for the puppies and not the yoga, and she seemed totally okay with that. At one point she had two puppies crawling over her and one chewing her yoga mat. So cute!
About Pets Yoga
Dogs are definitely my thing, but if you are a cat or a bunny person, Pets Yoga have yoga classes for you too. In fact, Pets Yoga started with kittens as Imane Makrat, the owner of Pets Yoga explains in this video.
The booking process
If yoga surrounded by kittens, baby bunnies or puppies sounds like your idea of heaven, you will have to keep a very keen eye on Instagram and act fast to book your place. Tickets sell out very quickly. They announced on Wednesday the 11th around 8 pm on Instagram, that tickets for the 15th would go sale at 9 pm – one hour warning to book for an event four days later. At 9 pm I was on the website and around 9:05 pm the page refreshed. I can tell you I have never in my life ever booked anything so fast. Thank God for auto fill so that I didn’t have to type in my address or credit card info! By 9:07 pm I had my ticket and when I went back to the page at 9:13 pm everything was sold out. That’s how quick you have to be.
When you make your booking, you won’t know where the class is going to be held. You are sent the venue details by email up to 7 days before the event. In my case the email was sent out at early Saturday morning for the Sunday class.

If you enjoy yoga and if you like puppies, kittens or bunnies you will love Pets Yoga.
