Better, not good

When you are feeling low, overwhelmed, stressed or anxious it might seem impossible that you will ever feel good again. To go from stressed to happy, or anxious to carefree is a huge leap to make. So don’t try to feel good, just do what you can to make this moment better. Even while you are feeling on the low end of the emotional scale, there are less-than-good feelings that still feel better than where you are at now. Disappointed feels better than hopeless, guilt feels better than shame, anger feels better than fear. Don’t pressure yourself into feeling good when that feeling is a big leap from your current emotional state. Just do something to make you feel better. The answer might be as simple as listening to your favourite song, ending the telephone call, or recalling a happy memory.
