Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)
Tapping
The Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) commonly known as Tapping is a scientifically proven, effective, stress relief technique based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.
How it works
The method involves tapping on energy points on the skin (acupuncture points) to influence the subtle electrical energies that run trough our bodies while thinking of a negative emotion (fear, a worry, a bad memory, pain or any other unsolved problem). The tapping action sends a calming signal to the brain while you are engaged in the thought that created the stress, thereby “rewiring” your brain and shifting the brain’s response to the memory or situation that triggered the unwanted response or emotion.
Tapping can help you to
- overcome unwanted emotions such as fear, guilt, shame, jealousy or anger;
- change unwanted habits and behaviour; and
- enhance your ability to love, success and enjoy life.
There have been many research studies about the effectiveness of EFT Tapping for depression, anxiety and PTSD. It has also been shown to reduce coritisol levels (the stress hormone) by 43%.
