Reiki Courses
Do you want to learn Reiki?
There are a few things you may want to consider before deciding whether or not to enroll in a Reiki training course:
- Consider why you want to learn Reiki. Is it for personal use, or for future professional practice? Level I courses are primarily seen as being for personal use, followed by Level 2, which is the foundational level for professional practice.
- There are various styles of Reiki you could choose from, however the most important factor when choosing the style of Reiki is whether the Reiki Master has a lineage that can be traced back to Mikao Usui, the founder of the system of Reiki. A lineage is similar to a family tree.
- Another very important factor is whether “attunements,” are given in person. “Attunements” can be compared to spiritual blessings and is the most important aspect in the system of Reiki.
I teach the Usui style of Reiki, my Reiki lineage can be traced back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui (view it here) and as my Reiki courses are always held in person, attunements are always given in person. I am also registered with the Reiki Guild South Africa as a Master Teacher and Practitioner.
I recommend you also watch the video below and read my blog post on What to look for when choosing a Reiki course and Reiki Master.
Reiki Level 1 Course
This course is for anyone who is drawn to Reiki as a personal healing and self-development tool and lays the foundation of Reiki.
Over the two days of this course, you will receive four Reiki 1 attunements which starts the flow of Reiki energy. You will be able to treat friends and family, and to use Reiki for your own healing and personal development. (Note that you will only be able to set up a professional practice to treat others for a fee, after receiving Reiki Level 2.)
I teach in a relaxed and personal style, and offer students plenty of time to get to know, and practice the techniques learned, on the other students.
I received my Reiki Master training in the Usui Tradition according to the Japanese and Western styles, and therefore will teach the Level 1 Reiki Course in the Usui Tradition and my students are trained in both the Japanese and Western lineages.
The First Degree (Level 1) covers:
- What is Reiki?
- The history of Reiki
- Healing and Reiki (including the mind-body connection and the four levels of Reiki healing)
- Energy and Reiki (including basic energy theory, the chakra system, an the aura)
- Energy cleansing techniques
- How to conduct a Reiki self-treatment
- How to give a Reiki treatment to others
- The different uses of Reiki
- The Reiki Principles
Reiki Level 2 Course (Practitioner level)
Over the two days of this course you will receive the Reiki Level 2 attunement which introduces the Reiki symbols. In the course you will learn and practice to use of each of the three symbols. It’s a lot of fun, especially when we experience a distance healing session for the first time! I teach in a relaxed and personal style, and offer students plenty of time to get to know, and practice the techniques learned, on the other students.
I would suggest that you leave at least 3 months between taking Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 to allow your body and mind to adjust to the higher energetic vibrations, and to gain more experience in giving Reiki treatments.
It is not a prerequisite that you received your Reiki Level 1 training with me. As long as you are trained in the Usui style of Reiki, you are welcome to attend my Reiki Level 2 course.
I received my Reiki Master training in the Usui Tradition according to the Japanese and Western styles, and therefore will teach the Level 2 Reiki Course in the Usui Tradition and my students are trained in both the Japanese and Western lineages.
The Second Degree (Level 2) course covers:
- Recap of the basics learned in Reiki First Degree
- The three Reiki symbols and how to use them
- Using the symbols for self-treatment
- Using the symbols to treat others
- Distance healing technique
- Creative uses of the symbols for personal development and for treating clients
- Chakra balancing and the use of symbols
- Advanced meditation practices
- Advanced energy healing techniques
- How to give a professional Reiki treatment
- Basics of starting a Reiki practice
Reiki Level 3 Course (Master level)
Tthe Master course is a very special course which allows you to practice as a Reiki Master and also to teach Reiki to others. I teach Master courses over three full days. We revise, and explore further, everything that was learned in levels 1 and 2. You will also learn new Japanese techniques for energy clearing and treatments. You will receive the Usui Reiki Master attunement and learn and practice to use the Master symbol and its mantra. We also cover the history of Reiki and different Reiki traditions in more depth. In the Master teacher part of the course you will learn how to teach Reiki, how to give attunements and Reiju, and what it means to be a Reiki Master teacher.
I would suggest that you leave at least 6 months between Practitioner level and Master level to gain sufficient experience in giving Reiki treatments and for your awareness of Reiki to increase.
It is not a prerequisite that you received your Reiki Level 1 or Level 2 training with me but I would want to have a discussion with you to understand what you were taught in your Reiki course. Broadly speaking as long as you are trained in the Usui style of Reiki, you are welcome to attend my Master course.
The Third Degree (Level 3) course covers:
- Recap of the basics learned in Reiki First and Second Degree
- Reiki Principles and Gyosei
- The Usui Master symbol and its mantra
- Attunement to the Usui Master symbol
- Ways of using the Usui Master symbol in meditation, treating others, for self-treatment
- An in-depth look at the history of Reiki and Reiki traditions
- Sensing energy and using intuition
- Advanced Reiki treatment techniques
- How to give attunements and Reiju
